Mississippi Guitar Flags

Unmute Audio to Hear Original Song "Old Man River" by Harold Vega Vondenstein

We are Harold and Paula Vega Vondenstein, 2019 Josie Music Award winning Gospel Blues musicians from Gulfport, Mississippi. (BibleBeltBlues.org) So why am I creating flag designs? Because Mississippi's next flag will have our national motto on it "In God We Trust." That's why! My two favorite flag designs of the six that I submitted are distinctly different and celebrate Mississippi's greatest heritage, our blues music. A blues guitar on a flag? Sounds crazy, but it actually works! Is it time for Mississippi to trade in its controversial confederate state flag design for what could be the "Coolest State Flag in America"? We created a video to show how the flags actually look when flown with an original live uncut recording of an early Mississippi blues style song, "Old Man River" that Harold created and performed. We also created our own Facebook Page: Mississippi Guitar Flags and our own website: www.MSGuitarFlags.com

Thank You Jesus!

Here are my two favorite guitar flag designs that I submitted to the Mississippi Dept. of Archives and History that met their August 1st deadline. I love the crispness of the colors, the big, bold, blues guitars, and most importantly the words, "in God We Trust" that I placed as a continuous ribbon in the design. It actually reads as three separate sentences: "In God We Trust" Trust in God" and "We Trust in God." Is Mississippi ready to trade in their controversial state flag for what may be the "Coolest State Flag Design in America"? Afterall, we are the "Birthplace of the Blues." To see how the flags look on a flagpole blowing in the wind please visit our website: www.MSGuitarFlags.com. The video includes an original early Bentonia Mississippi blues style song recorded live, one take, uncut by my husband, Harold Vega Vondenstein. Please LIKE our Facebook Page: MISSISSIPPI GUITAR FLAGS. Thank you kindly!

Here are my six original flag designs that I submitted to the Mississippi Dept. of Archives and History to be voted on by the nine member commission with a deadline of September 2nd to come up with one flag design to placed on the Nov. 3rd ballot. Over 2,600 flag designs were submitted by their Aug. 1st deadline. The commission has until Aug. 7th to individually choose their 25 favorite which narrows the designs down from 2,600 to approximately 200. Round Two: On Aug. 10th each commissioner must rank their 10 favorite flag designs. Round 3: Aug. 18th the commissioners will choose five flags that will be made into actual flags. On August 25th the top five flag designs will be put on the MDAH's website: (www.mdah.ms.gov) so the public can make comments through Sept. 2nd. Praying for God's favor to make it through Rounds One & Two. Don't know how I could contain my excitement if one of my flag designs were to actually make it to the Top Five. ONLY GOD!

The nine member commission will narrow their selections down to one flag design which will appear on the November 3rd ballot. My four original guitar flag designs are at the 3:59-4:00 mark. So excited that the flag designs must have our national motto: "in God We Trust." on them. (Please LIKE our Facebook Page: MISSISSIPPI GUITAR FLAGS).
